Exhibitors at inter airport Europe presented a comprehensive choice of equipment and services to speed up security screenings, check-in and baggage handling
During the four days, a total of 12,706 trade visitors from 110 countries came to the show to find out about latest trends in airport industry

The 20th anniversary edition of inter airport Europe, International Exhibition for Airport Equipment, Technology, Design & Services, ended with very positive results. During the four exhibition days, a total of 12,706 trade visitors from 110 countries came to the Munich Trade Fair Centre to find out about the latest trends in the airport industry and specify innovative equipment and systems. This represents a 7% increase in visitors compared to the previous show in 2013.

With a total of 676 exhibitors from 44 countries and a net floor space of 29,870m2 inter airport Europe 2015 could also increase its exhibitor numbers and floor space by 5.5% each compared with the previous event.

A highly successful 20th anniversary edition

“These are of course very positive results. A first analysis of the exhibitor feedback shows that participating companies were highly satisfied with the outcome of inter airport Europe 2015. A vast majority of exhibitors were able to reach their target groups; they praised the high quality of trade visitors. Exhibitors told us about a large number of business contacts and positive sales figures. Many exhibitors had presented themselves this year with even more impressive stands. They showcased an enormous variety of new products and innovative solutions, and made this exhibition, once again, a magnet for specialists of the airport industry from all over the world. We would like to thank all exhibitors and visitors for this highly successful 20th anniversary edition of inter airport Europe,” says Nicola Hamann, Managing Director of the organisers, Mack Brooks Exhibitions.

The successful outcome of the exhibition reflects the economic situation of the industry sector. The rise in passenger figures at airports worldwide is a challenge for airport operators. They need to expand their airport facilities, design new terminals and build new runways. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO, airlines worldwide carried 3.2 billion passengers last year; and with forecasts of annual growth rates of some 5% in worldwide air traffic there are no signs of a slow-down.

Exhibitors at inter airport Europe presented a comprehensive choice of equipment and services to speed up security screenings, check-in and baggage handling as well as boarding procedures for passengers. Intelligent IT systems to improve terminal and airside operations and environment-friendly GSE to reduce the carbon footprint of the airport were also on display. Important technological trends at this year’s show were green technology, data exchange, integrated airport system solutions as well as solutions for improving the passenger experience.

2015 inter airport Europe Award

Four exhibiting companies received the inter airport Europe Award for their innovations in the four exhibition categories of the show. Award winner 2015 for the interTERMINAL category was DSG BagDrop from Denmark; award winner for the interDATA category was 3D Interaction Technologies GmbH from Germany. Midstream Lighting, from the United Kingdom received the award in the interRAMP category and SMV Sitz- & Objektmöbel GmbH, from Germany was awarded in the interDESIGN category.

70% of exhibitors and visitors from outside Germany

inter airport Europe 2015 was once again a highly international event. Some 70% of the exhibitors and visitors were from outside Germany. The most important exhibitor countries after Germany were the USA, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland. The most important regions where the visitors came from were Europe, Central and South East Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

For the global active airport community, Mack Brooks Exhibitions offers a series of further inter airport events in growth regions: next year, inter airport China will take place from 12 - 14 September 2016 at the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing.
