In April of 1775, Paul Revere rode fearlessly through the streets of New England warning the town of Lexington that “The Red Coats are Coming!” It was both a warning and an announcement that a powerful force was upon them.
If Paul Revere were alive today and in the security and access control world, he would probably be tweeting, posting, and blogging that “IP access control is coming, and it’s coming faster than you’d expect!”
Just as in 1775, it is both a warning to legacy proprietary systems, and a notification that a powerful industry change is happening. End users and integrators need to prepare.
Migration to Pure IP Access Control
2015 for ISONAS has been this kind of bellwether year with hundreds of customers across all market verticals adopting Pure IP Access Control and moving towards a nonproprietary open architecture product set. Our company growth has significantly outperformed the market, and we are poised for a tremendous 2016.
In the New Year, we see an even greater push for Pure IP Access Control to operate seamlessly with other best-of-breed access control products ranging from other software platforms, to hardware accessories, or peripheral software products.
Rapid changes ahead
Much as the video surveillance industry changed from proprietary single source providers to one dominated by strong VMS manufacturers and camera manufacturers; the access control space will continue to change rapidly. Contractors and end users more than ever will be able to choose ISONAS hardware products and choose the best software platform for their project, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership.
They will gain a new freedom from not being trapped in a proprietary system and will be able to operate a complete integrated access control system with best of breed VMS system. The market research is all showing that IP access control is gaining significant strength and growing at rates that we experienced in the IP surveillance world for the last 8 -10 years.
The power of this wave will create some winners and losers. The spirit of Paul Revere is alive today in access control. “IP Access Control is Coming!” – and it’s a great thing for our industry.
