The Texas Department of Aging and Disability’s mission is to provide aging and disability services, support, and opportunities that can be easily accessed in local communities. In 2009, the 81st Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 643, requiring that video surveillance equipment be installed in all DADS facilities to detect and prevent the exploitation or abuse of residents and clients. Knight Security Systems chose IQinVIsion’s IQeye cameras for the project because of their superior area of video coverage and image quality. The installation comprises over 3,200 IQeye H.264 HD megapixel cameras installed in 336 buildings on the 12 campuses. By choosing IQinVision, DADS installed fewer cameras compared to SD cameras and still covered more area in each building. This saved installation time and cost and cut future maintenance expenses. Furthermore, with H.264 Main Profile compression, the state could maintain an extended video archive without paying for exorbitant storage capacity. Chris Hugman, Vice President at Knight Security says, “The result has been superior quality images with manageable network and storage requirements – the customer has been very pleased with the clarity and performance.”
