Unipart Security Solutions has been awarded a seven-year contract to provide a range of security services for shoe retailer Dolcis' new distribution centre in Baginton, Coventry.

Dolcis, which was sold in 2006 by Alexon Group to a team of investors headed by retail entrepreneur John Kinnaird, currently have 65 high street branches and 150 concessions across the UK.

Dolcis IT Director, Nigel Hickman, said, "Our high quality merchandise is just as attractive to would be thieves as it is to our valued customers."

"Security at our distribution centre is therefore high on our list of priorities as we need to ensure that our entire range is available in our retail outlets at all times."

In addition to providing manned guarding and key holding services, Unipart Security Solutions has been tasked with maintaining and monitoring the building's CCTV system.

Nigel Hickman added, "We chose Unipart Security to help us with security because they clearly have extensive experience in dealing with the challenges of security in a logistics environment."

Unipart Security Solutions Operations Controller, Jim Gannon, said, "We are naturally very pleased that an important retailer such as Dolcis has entrusted us with the security integrity of their new distribution centre.  They join a fast growing list of clients who are benefiting from the unique approach we apply to security."
