BCD, the global pioneer in IP video data infrastructure solutions, has released a new version of its exclusive Harmonize iDRAC software plug-in for Milestone Systems’ XProtect® video management system (VMS).
First launched in May 2021, Harmonize iDRAC for Milestone was developed by BCD to integrate specifically with XProtect and allow for hardware events, notifications, and alarms to be presented within the VMS, giving system integrators and end-users the ability to monitor iDRAC features such as hard disk status, temperatures, fan speed and power supplies all through XProtect.
Harmonize iDRAC features
The latest features added to the Harmonize iDRAC plug-in for Milestone include:
- New charts and graphs to show a visual representation of the iDRAC telemetry
- A new aggregate screen that allows for multiple iDRAC objects to be monitored from within a single tile, reducing the Harmonize footprint if used within an SoC
- Status indicators have been added to the iDRAC servers to show whether they are connected or in a failure state.
- Various stability and performance improvements
The new aggregate screen allows users to view all of their iDRAC devices from a single pane"
Integration software
Alberto Feliciano, BCD’s Application Development Manager, said the new version addresses feedback and requests from BCD’s customers and vendor partners who have integrated the software plug-in with their XProtect deployments.
“We listened to our customers and added requested features. The new aggregate screen allows users to view all of their iDRAC devices from a single pane to free up valuable screen real estate,” Feliciano said. “We have also introduced new charts and graphs to improve user recognition and response times.”
Real-time monitoring
BCD’s Harmonize iDRAC solution ingests the iDRAC API and listens for specific events, such as drive failure, and shares this critical system information in real-time with operators. The integration ultimately empowers end-users and system integrators to be ahead of failures and proactively manage any server crashes that may happen. It also gives them insight as to how well or poorly the server resources are being utilised by being able to monitor central processing unit (CPU) and random access memory (RAM) consumption.
With the Harmonize iDRAC plug-in, operators using XProtect will be able to immediately see and respond to storage issues before failure or other catastrophic events occur via the same screen as they are live viewing the site.
