Bentall's Shopping Centre has upgraded to JVC's public surveillance system
Bentall's Shopping Centre, Kingston has recently installed a number of JVC's VN-X235VPU megapixel cameras with built-in 3-9mm lenses, into their existing CCTV system to monitor visitors in the mall. The surveillance team at Bentall's Shopping Centre's main aim was to install cameras on the mall's entrances to capture quality images of everyone entering the centre. They needed the system to operate sufficiently under all lighting conditions, especially in evening during late night shopping hours. Working in conjunction with Zada Technology and J2K, JVC Professional supplied True Day/Night, vandal resistant cameras, which have been incorporated into an existing CCTV system to observe and provide identifiable images of potential suspects.

Due to extensive cabling and volume of cameras, Zada decided that an analogue option would be costly and instead provided a system which incorporated JVC's megapixel cameras and J2K's Sharp View IP camera management system, thus providing the necessary image quality whilst significantly reducing installation costs.

"I was surprised that by installing newer technology we'd be getting greater image quality at a lower cost," Marcus March, Bentall's operations manager states.

JVC's VN-X235VPU is a tough network dome camera equipped for demanding environments and includes JVC's Fine Adjust focus mechanism for precise, fast installation. The camera features 1.3 megapixel high-quality JPEG stream, MPEG-4/Motion JPEG dual stream, Variable-Focal Lens for accurate viewing angles and progressive scan CCD for clear images. TheVN-X235VPU also features Day/Night function with IR Cut Filter and automatically switches between day and night modes for secured round-the-clock surveillance.
