Bosch Security Systems extends Dinion camera range with Dinion IP

Bosch Security Systems has launched Dinion IP – its proven Dinion camera with integrated IP network connection - in response to the growing market demand for greater flexibility, improved camera functionality, reduced cost of ownership and improved accessibility.Jeremy Hockham, UK Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems explains: “Internet Protocol (IP) has revolutionised the way the world communicates and it is now set to transform CCTV surveillance systems.   Installers are receiving more and more requests for IP-enabled cameras as their customers recognise the benefits of IP-based surveillance installations in comparison to traditional solutions.” Bosch’s Dinion range of fixed cameras was first launched in 2002 meeting the need for affordable, high-performance CCTV imaging, and it then later introduced the DinionXF series to offer high performance Colour and Day/Night models addressing the critical issues of sensitivity and dynamic range. The new Dinion IP cameras combine all the benefits and reliability of the Dinion range with a network video server that transmits video and control data over IP network which means that images can be transmitted to several receivers simultaneously.  Dinion IP cameras have tri-streaming technology: dual MPEG-4 and JPEG compression modes simultaneously allow a dedicated stream at one frame rate for recording and a different stream for live viewing, while JPEGS can be streamed to other devices such as a PDA. With an Ethernet connection and analogue BNC output, Dinion IP cameras offer customers a hybrid solution as they can be connected to existing analogue CCTV equipment, whilst still offering the additional flexibility and scalability of IP-based CCTV systems.  Installation is straightforward and they are easy to configure via the IP network: configuration settings can be stored as computer files and copied from one camera to another and settings can be uploaded to many cameras in the network simultaneously. The Dinion IP and DinionXF IP cameras have in-built intelligent functionality, like alarm management with relay output, event handling, alarm input and motion detection.  Dinion IP is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) standard. PoE means that installation is easy and additional cabling is eliminated as cameras do not require a local AC power source.  An additional benefit with PoE installations is if the network is supported by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Dinion IP cameras can continue to operate even when there is a power failure.  Bosch’s DinionXF IP and Dinion IP cameras can be fully integrated into Bosch’s VIDOS Video Management System and DiBos Digital Video and IP Recorder and Transmission System.  These cameras complement the other innovative IP products such as the VIP and VideoJet families of encoders and decoders and the VIDOS and NVR (Network Video Recorder).

Day/Night versions of Bosch DinionXF cameras on show at IFSEC
Day/Night versions of Bosch DinionXF cameras on show at IFSEC

At IFSEC 2005, Bosch Security Systems displayed two new Day/Night versions of its high-performance, 15-bit DSP DinionXF range.  For round-the-clock surveillance, the DinionXF Day/Night versions feature a built-in infrared filter for daylight surveillance that automatically moves from in front of the lens when the light level falls below a present value (at night infrared is the most useful region of the electromagnetic spectrum for imaging).  For night-time surveillance, the camera also automatically switches to monochrome mode to increase sensitivity. The DinionXF Day/Night versions have built-in, through-the-lens infrared metering and detection that prevent reversion to daylight mode if the camera is illuminated by an infrared source at night.  The IR filter can also be switched manually via the alarm input, through the camera menu or via the Bilinx coaxial bi-directional control interface.  The new cameras also feature SensUp that dramatically enhances the effective sensitivity by decoupling image accumulation from the video output and by increasing accumulation time on the CCD up to ten times.  Bosch’s SensUp works with continuous shutter speed adjustment for the smoothest possible video level control.  SensUp is most effective where the only light is from the moon, stars and scattered radiation. Enhanced night-time imaging guarantees round-the-clock surveillance Lens Wizard automatically detects lens type and sets focus for 24-hour cycle Video Motion Detection allows selection of four fully programmable areas XF-Dynamic feature extends dynamic range for outstanding image quality CCD imaging and DSP technologies enable best possible sensitivity
