As terrorism continues to rear its ugly head, we at Delta Scientific have been upgrading high-profile embassy and consulate facilities for several major counties around the world. 2015 was a strong year for us. We saw an increase in manufacturing output on our complete line of vehicle barricades and guard booths. 2016 shows no signs of slowing down.
Increased global security measures for explosive-laden vehicles
The Middle East is a particular hotbed for increased security measures for explosive-laden vehicles. Many soft targets in the Middle East have also been adding anti-terrorist, crash-resistant barriers, barricades and bollards. This has been also true in North America and Europe, while Southeast Asia is coming on strong.
As we continue to see traffic tragedies like the recent calamity at Oklahoma State University, demand for portable crash-rated barriers is also growing. From protecting the Pope on his parade routes to defending farmers market shoppers once a week, municipalities, colleges and others are wanting to provide new levels of safety to both dignitaries visiting their cities as well as wanting to eliminate the worries to their own citizens when attending events. As they learn how easy it is to use these barricades, interest is growing.

Delta Scientific self-contained barricades
The totally self-contained barricades are towed into position and provide controlled vehicle access within 15 minutes. No excavation or sub-surface preparation is required. Once positioned, the mobile barricades unpack themselves by using hydraulics to raise and lower the barriers off their wheels. DC-powered pumps then raise or lower the barriers.
Vehicle access control 2016 – winners and losers
In our market niche, the losers will be those firms that have been selling non-certified (non-rated) vehicle access control at a greatly reduced price. These are units not built as structurally sound as those provided by major suppliers. Unfortunately, people are going to get hurt or killed before many buyers learn and understand that a barrier, barricade or bollard that is not rated provides a very false sense of security.
