Digital India promises to be a transformative force that will propel the country into a digital economy
Digital India will be highlighted at the conference sessions, which will focus on technology evolution to new services

The Digital India mission of the Government of India aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge economy. The objective is for all government services to be made available to the public, and to improve the ease of doing business in India for domestic as well as international organisations.

Redefining paradigms of service delivery

To facilitate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Exhibitions India Group (EIG) is organising the 24th Convergence India 2016 expo, which will be held at Pragati Maidan during 20 – 22 January, 2016.

“Digital India” will be highlighted at the conference sessions, which will focus on technology evolution, to new services, investments, business transformations, and sustainable technologies, etc.

Mr. Rajan Mathews, Director General, COAI India, who will be moderating a key session on Internet for All - Key to the digital lifestyles, said: “With the Indian telecom industry growing at an unprecedented pace, we must collectively ensure right pricing policies. Competition may be managed through fair, transparent, and a level playing field in this year and in the future, as we move to provide effective and efficient futuristic technology, including M2M and IOT. We, in the industry, are working to make wireless communications pervasive and universal, so that the foundation of newer technology concepts, known as Internet of Things (IoT), can be strengthened.”

Sharing his views, Mr. Rajiv Kapur, Managing Director, Broadcom, India, who will be speaking at the inaugural session on “Digital India” said: “Digital India promises to be a transformative force that will propel the country into a digital economy to reckon with. This presents a massive opportunity for technology to be used to redefine the paradigms of service delivery and bridge the rural-urban divide. To realise the potential and vision of a program of this ambition, complexity and scale, it will be crucial to forge strong partnerships between the government and the industry.”

Bringing together diverse voices of the industry

Commenting on the expo, Mr Kapur added: “Broadcom is happy to have been a long-term supporter of Convergence India expo, and I am personally pleased to be a part of this show. Over the years, Convergence India has risen to become the definitive platform that brings together diverse voices of the ICT industry, and the ecosystem, to enable strategic conversations and collaborations on all important industry issues and matters.”

Prem Behl, Chairman, Exhibitions India Group said: “This platform provides exposure to domestic firms and SME’s. The Convergence India expo promotes global interest in the Indian ICT sector, which is an important focus for implementing Digital India.”
