Dedicated Micros to launch new EcoSense NVR at IFSEC 2010
The easy-to-install EcoSense NVR brings IP-only connectivity to Dedicated Micros' embedded DVR platform
CCTV specialist Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - is launching its new EcoSense NVR (Network Video Recorder) at IFSEC 2010. This pure IP video product is designed to provide plug and play IP camera connection and recording for installers without any prior IP network knowledge. It also integrates an enhanced layer 2/3 switch, with self-configuration software, to deliver an extremely secure Closed IP TV capability.

Building on the huge success of the EcoSense DVR, unveiled at last year's IFSEC, the simple to install EcoSense NVR brings IP only connectivity to Dedicated Micros' low-cost embedded DVR platform.

Dedicated Micros sees the new EcoSense as an ideal entry-level NVR solution. The latest model comes with many of the features which made the original DVR variant so popular including: multi-channel recording with real-time multi-screen display, simultaneous playback and viewing, USB and DVD archiving and, significantly, embedded help videos as standard to assist with user and configuration features.

Pauline Norstrom, Director of Worldwide Marketing at Dedicated Micros said: "The EcoSense NVR is a welcome addition to our 'Pure IP Video' product portfolio and should prove particularly attractive to security installers who are looking at networked CCTV solutions for the first time or want a solution with reduced set-up time and enhanced ease of use."

"Crucially, the provision of built-in layer 2/3 switching technology with the EcoSense NVR means that our revolutionary concept of Closed IP TV is supported. This means that installers can readily create a secure network of video-over-IP products, where IP cameras are automatically identified and configured by the NVR as a point-to-point relationship - just like an analogue system. Once configured, the closed IP network can be totally locked down by a number of automatic firewall provisions, again without the need for any network knowledge."

Mike Newton, AD Group CEO and CTO stated: "In the past we have highlighted concerns and risks, especially for new users of IP, which has been misinterpreted as being anti-IP, which is bizarre as we have been successfully deploying Video over IP since 1998. This product however provides an easy to use, safe and secure environment for even the most inexperienced IP NVR user or installer, providing solutions to the very real risks we have highlighted. This is potentially the key to unlock the full potential of IP CCTV in the mass market."
