Autoroutes du Sud de la France tolls
ASF installs MESSOA's 24-hour outdoor surveillance cameras on the A9 highway to verify payment collection
Autoroutes du Sud de la France (ASF) is France's largest operator of toll roads and the second-largest toll-road operator in Europe. ASF controls three 124km French highways (36.5% of the total) and had turnover of 2.4 billion euros in 2004. ASF manages the A9 highway, which runs 285 kilometres from the south of France to Spain. The highway, which collects tolls based on vehicle size, connects the major cities of Southwestern France and handles enormous numbers of vehicles travelling to Spain.

In the summer of 2009, ASF decided to install cameras in 10 toll stations on the A9 highway to identify vehicle information, including type, size and shape, in order to verify payment collection.

ASF determined that the high-sensitivity MESSOA SCB261 offered an ideal solution for the 24-hour video surveillance the company needed. The SCB261 handles very low light conditions with ease. It also employs MESSOA's high-sensitivity Lumii™ technology, which delivers sharp, highly detailed images and ensures error-free recognition of vehicle information. This solidly built camera is perfectly suited to round-the-clock monitoring applications and features a vandal-proof IR housing (SAH725) that enables it to capture crucial images even when invaders are attempting to destroy it. Its IP67-rated die-cast-aluminium housing also helps protect the camera from inclement weather, ensuring that the outdoor surveillance is always on.

ASF has already deployed 50 sets (SCB261+ SAH725) in toll stations, placing them strategically where they will readily recognise vehicle information. With Messoa's cameras on the job, ASF will able to easily resolve all problems related to the size of vehicles, no matter the time of day or the weather conditions.
