Lumidigm’s award-winning biometric sensors integrated into the Imprivata OneSign® enterprise single sign-on (ESSO) and authentication platform, healthcare providers obtain fast and streamlined access to EMR applications with a simple touch of a finger
Lumidigm and Imprivata jointly as partners to deliver an integrated solution for healthcare clinicians

Lumidigm and Imprivata announced a partnership to deliver an integrated solution for healthcare clinicians that require reliable and fast access to electronic medical record (EMR) applications when wearing surgical gloves. With Lumidigm's award-winning biometric sensors integrated into the Imprivata OneSign® enterprise single sign-on (ESSO) and authentication platform, healthcare providers obtain fast and streamlined access to EMR applications with a simple touch of a finger - even when gloved.

Biometrics access has been proven to be the most simple and cost-effective way to maintain patient privacy and to manage the distribution of controlled substances as mandated by DEA regulations. Users that are biometrically enrolled in Imprivata's OneSign platform will benefit from its central management and reporting capabilities which support secure access to pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and patient data.

"Lumidigm's biometric sensors and OneSign give clinicians fast access to EMR applications regardless of environmental conditions," said Ed Gaudet, chief marketing officer at Imprivata. "With support for Lumidigm devices, our customers can leverage their existing OneSign investments across clinician workflows that involve surgical gloves."

"Using Imprivata's OneSign solution in tandem with the security and superior performance of Lumidigm biometric sensors is essential in healthcare applications where security is a must but where security cannot interfere with critical-care technicians, doctors or nurses attending to their jobs," explains Phil Scarfo, Lumidigm senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Enterprise single sign-on and biometric authentication eliminate clinician frustrations with multiple passwords, two-tier authentication and lost tokens. Imprivata OneSign consolidates multiple applications into a single access point and completes a healthcare provider's investment by merging all authentication needs to a single finger."

Frost & Sullivan awarded Lumidigm, New Product Innovation of the Year Award, Fingerprint Biometrics, North America, 2010

Lumidigm's partnership with Imprivata allows doctors, nurses, staff and other employees to access multiple applications throughout a hospital with a single biometric enrollment. Lumidigm multispectral imaging sensors capture fingerprint data beneath the surface of the skin so that dryness or even damaged or worn fingers create no problems for reliable reads. Using multiple wavelengths of light and advanced polarisation techniques to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin, Lumidigm's sensors provide results that are more consistent, more inclusive and more tamper resistant than conventional biometric readers.

The Lumidigm fingerprint solution was being featured through Wednesday in Booth #5242 at the HIMSS11 Exhibition at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The Imprivata OneSign solution was being featured in Booth #3872.

The research firm of Frost & Sullivan recently awarded the New Product Innovation of the Year Award, Fingerprint Biometrics, North America, 2010, to Lumidigm. According to Frost & Sullivan, Lumidigm's "innovative technology allows Lumidigm fingerprint sensors to provide highly accurate biometric data even in adverse conditions where traditional fingerprint sensors fail."
