An entry-level access solution, Code Handle® is a battery-powered handle with inbuilt PIN code protection. Wireless access control with programmable keys and locking cylinders is provided by the CLIQ® ecosystem. Designed for small to large and complex businesses, CLIQ® incorporates several admin options, including a smartphone app and enterprise web applications. Also key-based, Pulse is an energy-harvesting locking system with secure cloud admin.
The SMARTair® access control system for small to medium-sized businesses is built around battery-powered electronic locks operated by multiple credential types and different levels of admin functionality. Aperio® wireless locks are developed on open platforms to easily integrate with an existing access control system — increasing security and saving costs.
Aperio® – Wireless access control technology
Available on the global marketplace, ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio® Technology enables a wide range of access control providers to cost effectively integrate non-wired doors with mechanical locks into new and existing access control systems. Doors will merely need to be equipped with battery-powered Aperio® locks with RFID readers and linked to the access control system via a communications hub for online integration, or via update on card for offline integration.
As a result, security and facility managers now have greater control, can easily respond to organisational changes and will only need to monitor a single security system, while users will only require a single RFID access control card.
CLIQ® – Mechatronic locking system
CLIQ® is a security locking system with high-end microelectronics, programmable keys and cylinders. The system offers a variety of combinations of mechanical and electronic systems to match different security and flexible access needs. Available on the global marketplace, it provides flexible access and key management solutions for all kinds of locking applications.
A wire-free system, each key can be programmed and updated individually to allow access to specific areas at specific times and dates, accommodating constantly changing access requirements and ensuring maximum flexibility. The power is provided by a battery inside the programmable CLIQ® key.
SMARTair™ - Wireless access control system
SMARTair™ is an access control system for small to medium sized businesses that offers an intelligent, yet simple, step up from keys. SMARTair™ is the cost effective alternative to a full high-security system. Wireless doors are more cost effective than standard wired access controlled doors.
Customers are convinced that replacing a lost card is much cheaper than replacing a key. And it can be done quicker. SMARTair™ access control doors can simply be reprogrammed. There is no need to replace locks and cylinders.
Code Handle® - The cost-effective, hassle-free way to protect private rooms from public access

This simple, secure, easy-to-fit handle with a built-in PIN-pad locks the door for you — with no wiring, no expensive access control system, no cumbersome keys and no major changes to your current door. Cloud-based management Recent report finds 78% of IT decision-makers anticipate growing their reliance on cloud solutions going forward According to the Wireless Access Control Report 2021, over a third of companies now use cloud-based management to power their access control. This proportion is likely to grow in the years ahead, as working practices become ever more mobile and the notion of being ‘at work’ describes a state of being, rather than a specific place. Indeed, another recent report finds 78% of IT decision-makers anticipate growing their reliance on cloud solutions going forward. One French town just north of Paris faced familiar key management challenges. Each person in their Municipal Technical Centre had to carry approximately forty physical keys. If a single key was lost or stolen, for even one door, all compromised cylinders had to be changed. To prevent unauthorised access, all the keys had to be replaced, too — at great expense. Key duplication costs were mounting. “One lost key cost from €3,000 to €4,000 for changing cylinders and replacing the keys,” explains Fabrice Girard, Territorial Technician at the Villiers-le-Bel Municipal Technical Centre. Administrators can program access rights for every CLIQ key, padlock or cylinder using the Web ManagerTo fix their expensive lost key problem, Villiers-le-Bel city administrators chose to combine ABLOY’s mechanical PROTEC2 and CLIQ electromechanical locking within the same flexible, key-based access control system. Almost 500 CLIQ wireless cylinders, 850 programmable, battery-powered CLIQ keys, plus programming devices and wireless CLIQ padlocks, have been deployed in a multi-year, rolling upgrade programme. CLIQ Web Manager software Now, with CLIQ, lost or stolen keys are cancelled instantly using the CLIQ Web Manager software. The Web Manager works securely inside a standard browser, with no software installation needed. Administrators can program access rights for every CLIQ key, padlock or cylinder using the Web Manager. They filter access to specific sites and doors according to the precise needs of every city employee. “CLIQ Web Manager is a very easy and pleasant system to use every day,” says Fabrice Girard. CLIQ also saves time for the city’s security team, because staff no longer must return to the Technical Centre to collect the keys for multiple sites. Authorised users carry a single, programmable, battery-powered CLIQ key, where all their individually tailored access rights are stored. Wireless system to enhance safety We wanted a wireless system with reduced maintenance costs and increased safety"“We wanted a wireless system with reduced maintenance costs and increased safety,” adds Fabrice Girard. “CLIQ met all these requirements.” The city has already rolled out CLIQ beyond their Municipal Technical Centre to 10 local schools. Using the CLIQ Web Manager, security staff can track exactly who has been granted access to every school site — critical for these sensitive premises and to improving overall school safety. Plans are in place to equip Villiers-le-Bel’s 12 remaining schools with CLIQ within 2 to 3 years, including canteens and boiler rooms. Because CLIQ can be deployed and scaled flexibly, the city’s dedicated security budget funds this gradual extension of their CLIQ system. CLIQ® technology is secure, user-friendly and scalable across multiple sites — and already trusted in schools, colleges and universities all over Europe. Only one UK mainline station has ever been built specifically for a higher-education institution: University Station, Birmingham, inaugurated in 1978. In 2023 it was completely reimagined to meet the needs of 21st-century passengers and railway staff. The rebuild’s aim was to improve facilities; offer greater passenger capacity; and boost ease of use, including barrier-free access for all. To achieve these goals, the new station required certified doorsets to meet stringent standards, including for fire safety. Safe and secure solution Key openings must a stable closing solution that is fitted to deal with high levels of daily traffic Firstly, all key openings needed a durable closing solution that is equipped to deal with high levels of daily traffic. Passenger numbers are expected to grow significantly over the next 40 years. “When it comes to a building like University Station that has a high footfall, we needed a safe and secure solution for the public that could withstand heavy traffic,” explains Phil Wood MCIOB, Senior Project Manager at the project’s building contractor, VolkerFitzpatrick. Cam-Motion Door Closers Their doors and door technology must combine comfortable user movement with secure closing. Their choice of door supplier was critical: Project managers wanted a supplier with experience providing specification support to contractors and architects, as well as an installation service to ensure all doors and door closers were deployed accurately. At several openings, Cam-Motion Door Closers were chosen for their comfortable access and reliable closing. The new station is a busy public space but also has restricted, staff-only areas. The door solution helps to keep employees safe at work without slowing down their daily work. Specification and installation support from ASSA ABLOY ASSA ABLOY’s specification team worked with makers to create an exact door hardware plan ASSA ABLOY’s specification team worked with architects to create an accurate door hardware schedule for VolkerFitzpatrick. They prepared specification briefs and complete door solutions for internal timber and external steel doors. Furthermore, “ASSA ABLOY helped us with their two-pronged approach, not only specifying a compliant solution but also fitting the doors,” adds Phil Wood. In combination with ASSA ABLOY Safeguard doors – which resist forced entry via mechanical or powered tools – the fire-compliant doorset was completed with an ASSA ABLOY DC500A Cam-Motion Door Closer. The advantage of Cam-Motion technology Door closers with ASSA ABLOY’s unique Cam-Motion technology shut reliably behind everyone who passes through. This is critical to separating station public areas from staff-only zones. The installer can set individual latch and closing speeds, so high closing force works alongside easy opening. And because valves are independent, metal and thermo-resistant, these settings remain until intentionally modified – even at extreme temperatures and faced with wind pressure or air suction. These door closers also maximise specification and installation flexibility. A symmetric cam design allows fitting to either frame or door, and on hinge or non-hinge side; no compromises or installer workarounds are needed. In meeting important accessibility criteria, they also do not sacrifice durability or fire resistance. All ASSA ABLOY Cam-Motion devices are tested to EN 1154 standard for fire and smoke protection.
